As I sit here reflecting on the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays and attempting to put some meaningful thoughts into this, my dog, Maggie keeps coming up wanting to play and jump into my lap. Not a bad thing except Maggie is an 85 lb. German Shepherd who thinks she is a lap dog. My thought here is the excitement and love that comes from her is much like the children as Christmas approaches and finally arrives.

    I love Christmas it is a happy time of year, and the spirit of giving is always at its highest level. There is nothing like watching the young children as the Christmas season starts and proceeds to that wonderful day that Santa Claus comes, and they get to open all their presents! From this old man’s point of view, there just is nothing better than watching their faces full of excitement and joy as they unwrap those presents from under the tree. Truly, Christmas means family and friends together enjoying each other and the wonderful traditions that come with it. Kindness, caring, compassion and the spirit of giving seem to come to the forefront during the Holiday’s and I cannot think of a better combination than that!

   To be honest I must admit I love watching Christmas movies. All my friends and family know that I will be watching Hallmark Christmas movies from Thanksgiving through Christmas and always watch The Polar Express on Christmas Eve because “I Believe!” There are some wonderful sayings that come from Christmas movies such as:

         "Just remember, the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart." The Polar Express

        "Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can't see." The Polar Express

         “Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.” Dr. Seuss

        "Christmas will always be as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand." Dr. Seuss

        "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." Elf

        "Teacher says every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings." It’s a Wonderful Life

   Honestly, I am just trying to justify my passion for Christmas movies!
